The wine steward Zdeněk Novotný recommends:
Red Traminer late harvest 2009 Skoupil
Red Traminer probably originates from Southern Tyrol (the town of Tramin) and it is attractive for its spicy rosé aroma and distinct flavour.
Tramin from Mr Skoupil from Velké Bílovice is semi-sweet, it has a 13% volume of alcohol and, although similar wines are not usually favourites, this one is very popular among guests. I would recommend serving it on summer evenings, chilled to the right temperature, and particularly to ladies thanks to its residual sugar.
As for the choice of food:
Although lamb specialities may be rare, the selection of wines to suit them should not be difficult as mainly rosé wines are recommended with them. But experts say that all aromatic wines and wines with distinct flavours go with it. And that is the reason why it was Tramin from Mr Skoupil that I chose for the Gourmet Symphony Restaurant as it perfectly complements roast knuckle of lamb with rosemary and mashed potatoes with shallots.
